New Year, New Song!!

Jan 3, 2014

Hi Friends!

I know it's going to be a good year when I can finish and release a new song on the very first day! Okay, so I had a little help from last year, but this song did come together rather quickly and it was very fun to record. "All of Those Cell Phones" is a Tom Petty style (sorry Tom) rock tune. It's a little different than what I've written before, meaning, it's not a worship song. The lyrics would sound pretty strange sung by a congregation. It's available or will be available soon anywhere digital music is streamed or sold, but it's only 59 cents on my website www.everydaypraise.com or through CD Baby at www.cdbaby.com/cd/alhilgendorf3.

The genesis of the song was a blogpost I read where the writer was lamenting the fact that most of us carry with us and use incredible technology every day, yet our bridges and roads are crumbling underneath us. I thought back to the Minneapolis bridge collapse in 2007 and this started the mysterious songwriting process in my brain and soon this song preempted everything else I was working on (sorry Byron). On the surface, the lyrics are straightforward, but they can also be taken as a metaphor for the spiritual state of our world. I hope you enjoy the infectious music and are challenged by the lyrics!

Thanks for listening and have a blessed New Year!!!
