This Work...Continues

Hi Friends!
Recently, I finished writing a song entitled "This Work". Songwriting takes longer nowadays because the more you write, the harder it gets to not repeat yourself (or anyone else!). But after two weeks I ended up with a song that comes from one of my favorite promises in the Bible, Philippians 1:6 "being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus". One of the lines in the prechorus goes, "Who am I to despise Your discipline, it's Your loving hand on me". I can't recall ever singing a line like that before, but God's discipline is just as much a part of His love as is His grace, mercy or forgiveness. After all, "discipline" IS from the same root as the word "disciple". As any parent knows, discipline is not reserved just for the big crimes, but is constantly meted out to keep us on the narrow road. It's a line that has just stuck in my head and I hope it will stick with those who sing it in the future.
I'm excited about the opportunity to play guitar once again Wednesday, June 5th at the Vertical worship night at Riverside Church in Three Rivers, MI. It's always a blast to be able to join another worship team. I always come away with more than I try to contribute.
I'm also working on another instrumental collaboration with my friend Byron Ewers. If you haven't heard the first one, you can hear it here:

We're guitar lovers. What can I say.
If you don't have a copy of "I Will Follow" yet, I will hunt you down and force you to listen. Or, you can download it for only 5 bucks on my website www.everydaypraise.com, or through CD Baby. (Slightly higher elsewhere, but I have no control over that)
Blessings!
